5. Are your skincare products externally assessed and tested?

A comprehensive Cosmetic Safety Assessment Report (CPSR) is produced for each and every product, including any variations or derivatives. These reports are written by a fully qualified chemist (based on our recipes) and reviewed by our experienced safety assessor, who has over 10 years of experience in the cosmetics industry.

Depending on the ingredients, some products also undergo laboratory testing. This testing—known as TVC (Total Viable Count) or SPT (Specific Pathogen Testing)—counts all organisms (bacteria and fungi) that might be present and checks for the presence or absence of specific pathogens that should not be found in skincare products.

Testing includes two measurements:

  • Bacteria and fungi per gram of product
  • Presence or absence per gram of four key pathogens:
    E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and C. albicans

Once both the assessment report and testing are successfully completed (in line with EU safety guidelines), the Product Information File (PIF) is updated and the product is registered in the EU portal before it’s offered for sale.

All ingredients are sourced from reputable UK suppliers. We follow best practices for hygiene and safety at every stage of production. Packaging is selected carefully, regular inspections are conducted, and stability testing is carried out to ensure product quality and consistency.

6. Are your packaging and containers recyclable?

Yes. All packaging and filler is either recycled or made from sustainable materials.

Our plastic containers are 100% recyclable (Resin Code 5, polypropylene). This includes items like ketchup bottles, takeaway tubs, and more.

Polypropylene can be recycled into brushes, brooms, garden rakes, and other useful items. It’s recyclable in a closed loop up to four times before degradation.

7. Are all your products vegan friendly?

Rhoose Point Remedies aims to make vegan-friendly products, but we’re not entirely vegan.

All current Skincare and Aromatherapy products are vegan. However, we may use natural ingredients like honey, lanolin, or beeswax in some future products due to their skin benefits.

All vegan items are clearly marked for easy identification.

8. Are all your products organic?

The simple answer is yes — all our products can be marked as organic because they contain a range of natural organic ingredients.

We are very selective about where we source our ingredients, ensuring they are completely natural and of the highest quality from origin. While it’s not always possible to source certified organic versions of every single ingredient in our product line, every product we make includes organic and natural components.

Our products are not “certified organic,” as formal certification is costly — and that added cost would have to be reflected in the price you pay. Instead, we choose to focus on product quality, using responsibly sourced ingredients to create effective, natural skincare.

It’s also important to note:

A product does not need to be certified to be labeled as organic.

9. What is the shelf life on these products?

The shelf life of most of our products is approximately 30 months when unopened. This can vary depending on the ingredients used and the type of packaging.

Once opened, the time you should use the product within depends on the container:

  • Use within 6 months
  • Use within 12 months

Proper storage and keeping containers sealed between uses will help extend product freshness.

10. Why do you donate 6% of profit to Save The Bees?

We are fully aware that without the planet’s population of bees, life as we know it would not survive.

At Rhoose Point Remedies, we believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to help keep bee populations thriving. Our beeswax products contain British Beeswax sourced exclusively from BBKA-approved bee farms in the UK.

To give back, we donate 6% of our beeswax profits every month to the BBKA Save The Bees Appeal—a vital initiative supporting research into the threats honeybees are currently facing. We hope to increase this donation as our business grows.

Every purchase of our beeswax products helps us raise these funds—we couldn't do it without you, so thank you!
