5. Are your skincare products externally assessed and tested?

A comprehensive Cosmetic Safety Assessment Reports (CPSRs) is produced for each and every product including any derivatives, which are written by a fully qualified Chemist (based on our recipes) and our experienced Safety Assessor, who has over 10 years’ experience in the cosmetics industry.

Depending on the ingredients sometimes the products have to also be laboratory tested. This is testing (TVC/SPT) performs a count of all organisms (bacteria and fungi) that might be present in our product and tests for the presence or absence of specific pathogens which should not be present.

Testing includes two counts: bacteria and fungi per gram of product, along with the presence or absence per gram of product of four specific pathogens: E.coli, P.aeruginosa, S.aureus & C.albicans.

Once both the assessment report and testing is successfully completed, in accordance with EU guidelines, all technical information/PIF (Product Information File) is available on request and products details are added to the EU portal prior to being offered for sale.

All ingredients are sourced from reputable UK suppliers. Best practice is always followed in terms of hygiene and working standards. Appropriate packaging is always used. Regular inspections and stability testing are carried out.

6. Are your packaging and containers recyclable?

All packaging, including any filler/packing is either recycled from items we have received or, if purchased from a sustainable source and environmentally friendly materials. All plastic containers used are 100% recyclable (Plastics – Resin Code 5), mostly made from quality polypropylene (PP) which can be recycled for Packing tape, Plastic Straws, Take away tubs, Ketchup bottles, Plastic picnic ware, Plastic bags or film that can’t be stretched—these are not recyclable. Polypropylene can also be recycled into brooms, brushes, garden rakes and plastic trays among many other items.

7. Are all your products vegan friendly?

Rhoose Point Remedies aims to make Vegan Friendly products, but we’re not necessarily completely vegan. At present, all of our Skincare and Aromatherapy products are vegan. There are a few ingredients, whilst completely natural like honey, lanolin and beeswax, which are beneficial for the skin or hair, and which we may use in some of our future products. All our vegan products are clearly marked, so you can make an informed choice about the products you use.

8. Are all your products organic?

The simple answer is YES. All our products can be marked as ‘organic’ as they contain a range of natural organic ingredients. We are very careful about where we source our all our ingredients as we want to ensure they are completely natural from source and of the best quality.

It is not always possible to source organic for all of our full range of ingredients but all of our products contain organic and natural ingredients.

Our products are not ‘certified organic’ as this certification costs a lot of money which we would have to reflect in the price you pay. Instead, we focus on creating high quality natural products that deliver outstanding results. It is important to note that a product does not have to be certified in order to be labelled as organic.

9. What is the shelf life on these products?

The shelf life of most of our products is 30 months. This is dependent on the specific ingredients and style of packaging.

In an open container (e.g. jar): Use within 6 months
In a closed container (e.g. bottle with flip top or pump): Use within 12 months

10. Why do you donate 6% of profit to Save The Bees?

We are aware that without the planet’s population of bees no life would survive. We believe it is our responsibility as humans to do what we can to keep the population of bees thriving.

Rhoose Point Remedies beeswax products contain British Beeswax that is sourced only from BBKA approved bee farms from the UK and we want to give something back to our bees by supporting important research into the threat that honeybees currently face.

We donate 6% of our beeswax profits each month to BBKA Save The Bees and in the future we hope it can be more! Each of your beeswax product purchases helps us raise these funds and of course we couldn’t donate without you—so thank you!

Welcome!

I am the founder of Rhoose Point Remedies based in The Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. We moved to Rhoose Point in July 2019 which is just a few miles west of Cardiff, Wales’ capital city.

The majestic cliffs and beaches along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast are packed with secrets of the past, a coastal walk along the Bristol Channel, which has one of the biggest tides in the world, uncovers beautifully preserved ammonites. The Vale of Glamorgan is one of the best coasts for Jurassic fossils in Wales, offering corals, giant shells (brachiopods and gastropods) and bones.

Fact Alert … Rhoose Point is the most southerly part of Wales!

This is what gave the inspiration for the Rhoose Point Remedies logo, the ammonite to represent the Jurassic Coast and the Sunshine we get in our Micro Climate.

After 16 years of Project Management at Airbus I retired in 2016. To keep busy I started selling high street branded beauty and health products online.

At the beginning 2020 during the COVID-19 Pandemic, being restricted from travel and consequently gaining the benefit of more spare time, I began to think seriously about a dream I had cherished for some time, of producing my own Beauty and Wellbeing products.

Having gleaned a reasonable understanding of the market, especially what customers were looking for; what they do and don’t like, how important ethical, natural, organic, high quality and affordably priced products that achieve real results were, I decided to finally make the dream become a reality and develop a company that could provide products that would fulfil the customer’s wish list and so embarked on a steep learning curve of safety assessments and testing!
