Benefits of Organic Lemongrass Essential Oil
Lemongrass essential oil has antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that – when diluted (see how to use below) and applied topically – can help to keep your skin cleaner and clearer, by eliminating bacteria that that can so often become trapped in hair follicles and pores and cause breakouts.
It can also help to clarify and detoxify your skin with antioxidants and vitamin C to gently exfoliate dead skin cells. It is also considered to be a natural astringent, which allows the toning of the skin, giving it a natural glow and strengthening the skin structure at the same time.
Lemongrass essential oil can also add shine to your hair and help to reduce dandruff by eliminating dandruff-causing bacteria (see ‘For use on the hair’ instructions below), The Citral present in Lemongrass is known for reducing pain and cramps caused by inflammation, making it perfect for using in massage after strenuous, or stressful physical activity.
Lemongrass also has remarkably effective mood uplifting properties, helping to calm the mind and ease stress and anxiety. Used in an oil diffuser (see ‘For use in a diffuser’ instructions below) after a stressful, hectic day will leave you feeling de-stressed, calm, re-balanced and effectively revived.
You can also use lemongrass essential oil for:
- Muscular Aches And Pains

How to use:
For use on the skin:
Not to be used on children under 5. Keep away from the eyes.
To safely use Lemongrass essential oil on your skin, always dilute in a carrier oil.
To safely dilute essential oils, add 5-6 drops of the essential oil to every 30ml of your base, or carrier oil. A popular carrier oil for use on the skin with lemongrass oil, is Jojoba oil which has great skin nourishing properties.
Test the mixture on a small, inconspicuous area of your skin before you apply it somewhere sensitive, like your face – NB: Always keep away from the eyes. If after 24 hours you see redness or irritation, do not use the mixture.
Never apply lemongrass oil directly to your skin without a carrier oil, and never ingest any essential oil.
For use in a diffuser:
Use three or four drops of the oil in a diffuser of your choice. If you’re using a diffuser inside a small room, you can leave it on for up to 20 minutes at a time. If you’re using it inside a bigger place, you can diffuse it for a period of 30 minutes to an hour.
